Nature will help you to reconnect with yourself, to meditate under the olive trees, observe the sunset, breathe the Mediterranean air full of herbal scents.
Olive Garden is situated on 10 000 m2 of land in the countryside, but only 3 km from the first beach. The city of Zadar is 22 km away and the city of Split is one hour driving from here. There are three national parks Kornati, Krka, Paklenica. The airport is 15 min. distance by car.
I'm a person who has been more than 17 years in the hotel industry, working on different positions and different tasks. During that time I spent lots of time meeting different people, different cultures and countries.
As a person who had traveled all around the world, I was always searching for unique experiences. That is the reason why I decided to make something unique, authentic, in harmony with nature, ecological, from natural materials for construction, and with a possibility to grow organic food.
My project started 8 years ago when I first planted olive trees. I've planted only 365 threes, number enough to be cultivated just by one person ( by me) to be effective, and to be most productive as possible. Idea was to build a house using stone as the main material for construction for many reasons; It has been used for centuries in Dalmatia. Stone is material which is very durable, and perfect for insulation during hot summers, for example, if the outside temperature is around 35- 40 celsius, inside temperature is always around 21-25 celsius, so there is no need for air conditioning. Stone as a material is expensive in a short time period but in a long period it is cheaper for almost 20%-31% - the reason is temperature balance, no paintings, etc.
To be unique and competitive in the tourism market, I build this eco-house just 41 m2, and it's perfect for two persons, but if necessary it can be suitable also for 4 persons.
In area where I live sun insolation is around 2500 hours per year, so photovoltaic panels are great choice, so with a help one of my friend we did calculations and we installed system 1 kW of power, we used the best MPPT regulators, top gel batteries (Victron energy ),and all the lights in the house are KLED ,tv, stereo , hair drier, fridge all electric devices are A+++ grade .
System is designed to be in work for seven days without sunlight.
We have the solar water heater without pump which is producing 150 liters of hot water for more than 6 months in a year, for the rest of the year I installed gas boiler which we are using during wintertime.
The fireplace is not just a regular fireplace, we have two of them. The bigger one and is located in front of the house, and the smaller one is inside in a living room. The fireplace is used for heating and sometimes we are using it as a place for the grill and for making our traditional food preparation called ''underbell''.
Below the house is the basement and water cistern. In this area, you'll have to be responsible with the water usage. We have cistern with 32 000 liters of freshwater. We are also collecting rainwater and using it too. We are growing all the organic vegetables, such as the tomato, baby bean, artichokes, herbs, etc.
